Based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Colony Construction is a company built on community, relationships, and sheer grit. Specializing in commercial construction, the company was founded in 2017 by CEO John Adcock and Vice Presidents Steven Weiss and Joey Davion. With different backgrounds and experiences, Colony Construction is the collaboration of their three stories. John’s property management experience combined with Steven and Joey’s commercial and residential construction experience allowed the three to “colonize” together, and so then Colony Construction was born. Although our company is still considered to be in its “infant” stages, Colony Construction has already fathered over 25 projects with a volume of upwards of $30 million. With projects ranging from $100,000 to $13 million, we’re only just getting started, and we’re eager to work with you.
Let’s build something together!
John discovered his love for business and people at an early age. At just 19 years old, he began working under his father, Jessie Adcock, who founded Adcock Properties in 1967. Fast-forward 16 years later, John is now the owner and CEO of multiple businesses specializing in property management, real estate, and of course, construction.
Steven has been in the construction business for over 20 years. After graduating with a degree in Drafting and Design, Weiss started out as a general contractor in 1999. In the past two decades, Weiss now has experience in drafting, project management, estimating, and over $100 million in commercial construction under his belt.
Construction was not in Joey Davion’s original plan. After a year of pursuing nursing school at the University of Southern Mississippi, Davion quickly realized that line of work was simply not his dream. An interest in construction was first sparked by his father, as Davion had always been around the scene growing up as his father worked in the particular field; so with encouragement from friends and colleagues, Davion decided to dive head first into the craft. He first snagged a carpenter job where he did field work for two years before landing a job as an estimator and project manager. In 2010, Davion graduated with a degree in Construction Engineering Technology from The University of Southern Mississippi; and years later in 2017, Davion helped found what is now a multimillion dollar company, contributing with his expertise in both residential and commercial construction.
Pat Kimbrough is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Construction Engineering. Pat has been estimating and managing commercial construction projects for the past 30 years and has the experience to produce a successful estimate and manage the project from start to finish. Through his experience, he has developed an understanding of the costs of various construction systems and what drives these costs in all phases of construction. Pat has always had an exceptional working relationship with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to see that the projects successfully meet or exceed the owner’s expectations. Pat’s knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, quality and his ability to complete a project on time and within budget are what makes him an asset to the Colony Construction team.
Lewis Wells’ career in construction was inspired at a young age. As a mere 14 year old, he spent his summers and holidays on the job working under his father. Later in life after joining the Coast Guard as a rescue swimmer for 4 years, he continued pursuing a career in construction officially at the age of 22. From 1987 to 2018, Wells worked for multiple different companies on several multimillion dollar projects that ultimately earned him a phone call from Colony Construction’s VP, Steven Weiss, who was eventually able to recruit Wells onto the team in April of 2018. Wells wanted to be a part of a something at ground level, and help build and grow with a company into something great. And here at Colony Construction, he’s doing just that.
